Howe International has been designing and developing over several months nine 5-day training curricula on trade and trade related topics for Mekong Institute, a renown research center based in Thailand. The training packages were developed within the framework of a trade support project for Cambodia, funded by the World Bank, with the aim to foster the capacity of officials from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.

The target users of the curriculum packages are the trainers from the MoC/TTRI, officials from the MoC, and provincial officials of trade, industry and related organizations involved in trade and business development in Cambodia. The training packages are used by the trainers to deliver similar trainings to target groups of government officials and private sectors in trade and SMR development in Cambodia.
TRADE RELATED TRAINING CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR CAMBODIAN OFFICIALS
Howe International has been contracted by Mekong Institute (MI) to develop training curricula and provide trade related consulting services for the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and the Trade Training and Research Institute (TTRI). The project is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how of officials from the Cambodia Ministry of Commerce. It has been commissioned by its Department of International Cooperation (DICO), Trade Development Support Program and sponsored by the World Bank.
The project aims at organizing and facilitating the development of trainers’ and trainees’ guides/manuals and training a core group of MoC officials as future trainers for the training curriculum developed.
The training content includes course modules, case studies, simulation exercises and best practices all tailored to suit the Cambodian context. The training curricula focus on practical knowledge, adult learning principles and real case studies; while presented in a simple, clear and attractive manner.
The curricula follow a systematic and practical approach to training, whereas the courses are material dependent rather than trainer dependent. The content is based on reliable and up-to-date data.
